I have a 2000 mazda 626 lx, 2.0 4cyl, automatic trans. Car now idles very roughly and dies at stop lights.?

I have been told to replace everything from the mass air flow sensor to the throttle body, and or the idle air control-(iac valve). Friends with the same kind of car have said the iac is the problem and i just need to clean it. If this is the case, can anyone reccomend a method of doing this, or what may need to be replaced? Any suggestions or web links would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It could be Idle air control but still all you said is speculation. Your check engine light will be illuminated if any of the engine control is not operating properly. This is the primary purpose of OBD systems; to prevent replacing that which does not warrant replacment. If it is lit which it should likely be, get a scanner or have the codes read to locate the fault.
