How do u know if you have a 2.0 usb connector on your computer?

I want to purchase a web camera but it will perform better if I have a 2.0 usb connection on my computer. How can I find out if I do?

Reply:If you find out that you do not have usb 2.0 you can buy a pci card that you could put in your computer to give you usb 2.0. Its cheap.
Reply:USB 1.1 is the older, slower interface, and USB 2.0 is the newer faster interface. The two use the same physical interface, it's just the drivers that change the transfer speed. To make sure you have the correct drivers:





Right click on My Computer





Select Properties





Go to the Hardware tab





Click Device Manager





Open up the Universal Serial Bus Controllers icon





If you see the "Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host controller", or a USB 2.0 icon, you're good to go.





If you just see a "standard PCI to USB Host Controller", you do not.








To get USB 2.0, make sure you have Windows XP SP2 installed. Check Microsoft.com for the download.
