Pcie 2.0 work in pcie x16?

i have an a8n-32 sli delux motherboard with pci express x16 slots. i wanta a 8800 gts vid card but says it has a pci express 2.0 connecter. can i use it in a x16 slot? i have looked up but the web isnt entirely clear

PCIe 2.0 is like USB 2.0, there is really no difference in the conection. All PCIe 2.0 cards are PCIex16, but are set with a different parameter that will allow them to work better in 2.0 slots.
