I just replaced my Internet Explorer web browser with Monzilla's Firefox 2.0. My question is do I still need

an antivirus/antispyware program, since (I've been told) Firefox has a built-in antivirus/antispyware program? I have Norton Antivirus/antispyware, and I would love to get rid of it.

Reply:U should keep it. Firefox does block some pop ups but it does not have a built-in antispyware program. So keep Norton or get a different type of antispyware program. Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition is good.
Reply:You will find Mozilla Foxfire catches about 90%. If you have a MAC I would say you are fine. If you have a PC I would keep Norton for a check once a week. So far, (knock on wood) I have been lucky, Norton has been clean for 3 months. But why take chances?? Once it is gone, it is a mess.That is from experience. Good Luck

Reply:Yes I'm afraid you'll definitely need an Antivirus, though Firefox protects against spyware and adware a LOT better than IE does.





Norton's products are average at best, but unless you want to fork out for NOD32, Sophos or Kaspersky, then it should be fine.

If you don't want to pay for them then use something like AVG Free from www.grisoft.com.
Reply:Firefox doesnot have any anti-virus or anti-spyware built into it. It is just a browser. You will definately require an anti-virus and an an-spyware.

Reply:Firefox does not have a Antivirus/antispyware program built in however it does block about 90% of viruses that come from websites. If I were you, I'd get rid of Norton and get AVG because its better and doesn't slow down your computer.
Reply:FF does not have antispyware/virus built into it, however, it is less likely to get a virus or spyware.


Norton does suck, I know. You can use the number 2 antivirus for free
