If you plug something into a usb point 1.1 and it says you need high speed usb 2.0?

How can you change what you have. My daughter's laptop is using a dongle (don't know what its called exactly - zycel?) to link to her router, but she keeps getting this message when she plugs it in so obviously the laptop is a bit lacking in that department ( she's got two usb ports, both are 1.1)

Her link to the web is very intermittent and slow, could this be the reason?

usb version 2.0 is 40 times faster than usb version 1.1.if your mother bord supports usb version 2.0 then you will not reach to this speed unless you use an adapter fo usb connection.so it is better to contact a competent computer store and ask for it ,wich is very cheap
Reply:ur device must be v2 and ur laptop is not supporting usb2.

some versions of windows xp dont support usb2, try upgrading windows xp.

or else u might get some adon hardware to get USB2 feture, but i guess tht quite rare for laptop.

but most probably ur laptop must b havin usb2 and wht is laking is the proper drivers. upgrading windows will solve the issue or find for USB2 drivers. thts easy, or else live it Hardware solution is not tht feasible.
Reply:Well its almost like a funnel, you start out going fast then it slows down for the equal speed you need to have 2.0 to 2.0 so probly upgrade your usb ports which is very easy and cheap to .... hope this helps
Reply:u can use a usb 2.0
