what's wrong with e?

Why do so many web 2.0 startups drop the "e"?
Probably because it portrays a quicker and more streamlined world, which is the image that they're going after.
Reply:Domain 'squatters' have already purchased pretty much every dictionary word based domain name out there. They dont use them, they just hold onto them in the hopes that they can sell them for huge fee's to companies the end up wanting to use them. Dropping the 'e' may be a way around that. Someone may have registered 'flicker.com' eons ago and want a million dollars for it, but who would've already registered 'flickr.com' ?
