all my web cam says is 2.0 usb camera. on the pox it says Pc camera digital zone. ive searched the internet but i cannot find anything! help =[ is there something i can download that works with all web cams? or just ANYTHINGGG!?!?
I lost my web cam cd! And my computer cant find the hardware!?
Try Uninstalling the Driver you have on Divice Manager and Plug in the WebCam then click on Windows Updated, Under Hardware Updates IT work for me..
Reply:I tried to search too using what you've listed here. If there's not an address, phone number, website address, etc. on the box or the instructions that came with the camera... I'm not sure what else to tell you.
If this is something that may have been accidentally deleted from your PC, you could try a System Restore to a date before this all started. If you've updated any drivers since then, you'll have to update them again, but files you've created will be fine.
Click 'Start'
Mouse over 'All Programs', 'Accessories', 'System Tools'
Click on 'System Restore' and follow the on-screen directions.
Good Luck!

Is Web/Graphic Design a Good Career?
I'm 20 years old and running a web design company. I save most of my money as I'm not a materialistic person. Is my career in good hands for many years to come? I can design anything in web 1.0/2.0 quality as I've been doing this since I was 13. I just started this year to full time.
Is Web/Graphic Design a Good Career?
Not going from any person experience, but my logic is telling me yes. Companies (and people) are looking for web designers everyday for their business or personal use. The world is leading towards an age of total technology (I think I stole that from a movie, lol) and if it, infact, does, then websites will need to be made. :)
Reply:if you are 20 years old and running something, that says a lot about your management skills to say the least. So if the web design thing doesn't work out, then you can al;ways go another route. I listed the website that can tell you better. Continuing your education may help your cause too. Good luck to you, you sound like you have a good head on your shoulders.
Reply:There are few companies are successfully in Internet, the problem is how do you make money from your work and your company?
Reply:As long as you continue to educate yourself, stay aware of the changing landscape, and keep an entreprenuerial attitude, it will be a good career.
Web Design as we know it today could be very different and will be, in 10 years. But if you keep up with things you'll do fine.
Reply:There's definitely a good future for people who really know the latest about Web 2.0, AJAX, Rich Internet Applications, etc.
If you have design skills and technical skills in developing html, CSS, JavaScript, etc. then you're really in a good position.
The Web, as you probably already know, is really changing lately, and I think a lot of companies have become complacent with their Web 1.0 sites and are suddenly waking up to the fact that the competition has moved on to Web 2.0. So whether Web 2.0 is really all that revolutionary or not, soon (if not already) everyone will be clamoring to "get some of that 2.0/AJAX/RIA stuff" that they really don't understand but have heard is the future of the Internet.
So I think the business of Web Design/Development is really going to pick up.
In terms of your own business, I'm not sure how well you are doing. A lot of companies are only going to do business with larger, well established Web design companies. There is a market for one person Web Design companies, but these are the low end small companies that don't have a lot of money to spend.
If your business doesn't do as well as you expect, you should try to get a job with a larger Web design company and still do your own Web design work on the side.
The most important thing is to keep up with the latest technology, design, and events happening on the Web. Otherwise, I think you're in a great place.

Best ASP.NET (C#) web hosting?
Hi!
I got a contract, and I would need to find a ASP.NET 2.0 (C#) web hosting.
This is for a small website, I do not need a database (well for now).
Any suggestions?
I found GoDaddy, which is not expensive, (I probably buy the domain name here) but I would like some recommandation or comments.
Thank you very much!
Best ASP.NET (C#) web hosting?
I have a few dozen websites with GoDaddy. The hosting is fine. You should be aware that they are rather restrictive with MS SQL Server connections, and you'll have to carefully read their literature if you ever want to use SQL Server. Otherwise, I love it!
P.S. I might point out that they also support MySQL and Access without the MS SQL issues.
Reply:If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months' time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.
I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent.
Hostmonster http://www.hostmonster.com/track/ryukend...
They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 300000 MB (300 GB ). They only charge $5.95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well.
Visit the site to check details.

Dell Latitude D830 web cam not recognized?
I just got a Dell Latitude D830 through work and it has a 2.0 MP web cam integrated into the bottom of the screen. The machine looks like it was originally built for vista, but my company replaced Vista with Windows XP ( for obvious reasons ).
So now I have this great new laptop, but the web cam won't get recognized when I run MSN Messenger. Does anyone know how I can get the system to recognize the web cam? Any place I can get the specific driver?
Dell Latitude D830 web cam not recognized?
contact dell support and see if they can supply you with a downloadable driver for the webcam that is compatible for XP

If you plug something into a usb point 1.1 and it says you need high speed usb 2.0?
How can you change what you have. My daughter's laptop is using a dongle (don't know what its called exactly - zycel?) to link to her router, but she keeps getting this message when she plugs it in so obviously the laptop is a bit lacking in that department ( she's got two usb ports, both are 1.1)
Her link to the web is very intermittent and slow, could this be the reason?
If you plug something into a usb point 1.1 and it says you need high speed usb 2.0?
usb version 2.0 is 40 times faster than usb version 1.1.if your mother bord supports usb version 2.0 then you will not reach to this speed unless you use an adapter fo usb connection.so it is better to contact a competent computer store and ask for it ,wich is very cheap
Reply:ur device must be v2 and ur laptop is not supporting usb2.
some versions of windows xp dont support usb2, try upgrading windows xp.
or else u might get some adon hardware to get USB2 feture, but i guess tht quite rare for laptop.
but most probably ur laptop must b havin usb2 and wht is laking is the proper drivers. upgrading windows will solve the issue or find for USB2 drivers. thts easy, or else live it Hardware solution is not tht feasible.
Reply:Well its almost like a funnel, you start out going fast then it slows down for the equal speed you need to have 2.0 to 2.0 so probly upgrade your usb ports which is very easy and cheap to .... hope this helps

For the line segment AB, one endpoint is A (2,5) and the midpoint is M (-2,0).?
Find the coordinates of the Endpoint B.
I would like to know the steps to solving this question. Examples from the web are appreciated.
For the line segment AB, one endpoint is A (2,5) and the midpoint is M (-2,0).?
You want to find what y is when x = -6
Find the equation of the line going through the two points.
Reply:If you know the midpoint fomula you can work backwards from that.
((x1 + x2) / 2 , (y1 + y2) / 2) = midpoint
so you get (2 + x2)/2 = -2 to find the x coordinate of B
if you solve fofr x2 you get x2 = -6
then for y2, (5 + y2) / 2 = 0, so y2 = -5
and the coordinates for B are (-6,-5)
Reply:Point B would be (-4,-5) U would subtract 2 from the x value and 5 from the y value b/c the midpoint is 2 and 5 units away from point A. It would make sense 2 have point M be in the middle.
I'm sorry if this doesn't make any sense. But I hope it helps u.
Reply:Let the point B be (c,d). Then using the given that M( - 2,0) is the mid point of A(2,5) and B(c,d), we get:
(c+2)/2 = - 2 which gives c= -6.
(d+5)/2 = 0 which gives d = - 5.
So the point B is ( -6, -5 ).
Verifying OK
Now length of AB = sqrt (64+100) = sqrt(164) = 2 sqrt (41).
Or find the length of AM and double it.
Reply:Point A has (x,y) coordinates (2,5).
Point M has (x,y) coordinates (-2,0).
One way to solve this is to get the equation of the line that passes through this line segment. Once we know the distance AM, we can find the coordinates of B since AM = BM.
The equation of a line is given by : y = mx + b
( m is slope, b is y -intercept )
Let's find the slope first: This can be done using two points: A and M
The way to find the slope between A (x1,y1) and M(x2,y2) is by:
m = (x1-x2)/(y1-y2) = (2 - (-2) ) / ( 5 - 0 ) = 4 / 5
Now lets find the y-intercept: Use either point A or M for this. M is easier since its y component is 0.
y = (4/5)x + b
0 = (4/5)(-2) + b
8/5 = b
y = (4/5)x + 8/5 is the equation of the line segment passing thru AB.
Now we need to know the distance AM. This can be found by utilizing their coordinates. x changes from 2 and goes to -2. (difference of -4) y changes from 5 and goes to 0 (difference of 5)
Thus B = Mx - 4 , My - 5 = (-6, -5)

Setting up a dev. environment (visual studio, dreamweaver, IIS, .NET 2.0 framework)?
just started programming, trying to set up a dev. environment on my PC. I like the Visual Studio IDE for coding vb.net but I like dreamweaver better for the actual page deisgn process. Anyone know where i can find a tutorial or explain how to set up Dreamweaver to work with IIS/.NET installed locally? Visual Studio and Visual Web Dev work fine and I can see the pages I have been coding in Dreamweaver but when I preview the page in Dreamweaver it says i need to specify a test server and server technology. I cant seem to get this working.
Thanks,

Can't help with dreamweaver, but can recommend an alternative.
http://www.t3technet.com/alternates.html
It appears that what dreamweaver is trying to do is put the files you're trying to preview on an actual web server to actually preview them.
Reply:do you have a decibel meter placed in strategic listening points balanced? this may solve the problem except uncontrolled reverb and then you d have to have cushioned walls, well good luck
Reply:If you have IIS installed and running, then "localhost" will work as your server.

Why isn't there a Java platform for Mozilla 2.0.0.2.?????????
I can't run a lot of web pages from my Firefox browser, including http://www.tcc.toughbook.com/ though I have Adobe Flash Player 9 (at least the Add/Remove app says so) do I need anything else? I wouldn't like to go back to that stupid IE7 cause I prefer the commodity of automatic internet logs cookies and temps removal...any ideas?
Why isn't there a Java platform for Mozilla 2.0.0.2.?????????
I went to toughbook.com, looked at their code for the page. It's asking for javascript. Try this in Firefox:
Goto Edit --%26gt; Preferences ... Content(tab pane). Make sure the checkbox for [] Enable Java and [] Enable Javascript are checked.
Java plug-in should offer to install whenever you visit a page with a java program if you don't have it.
---
This is just a guess. The code for the HTML on toughbook.com I noticed is "sniffing" my browser, knows I have javascript and there server gives me several chunks to make the page. That is, with another browser the code would be slightly different from the server. Best of luck.
Last thought: type up in the address bar where the web addresses go in --- "about:plugin" and hit the Go button (without the quotemarks, without any spaces). That's how you get a report on all your add-ons.

Why are some software version numbers give as "Firefox/2.0.0.11" and some as a decimal ie 2.0011 ??
please give web references to any system.
Why are some software version numbers give as "Firefox/2.0.0.11" and some as a decimal ie 2.0011 ??
There is no industry standard RELIABLE enough to reference. In other words, it depends on how the software developers implement them.
In most cases, it has to do with:
MajorVersion.MinorVersion.BuildNumber: (2.3.11, for example)
where BuildNumber is dynamically incremented each compile.
MinorVersions are usually when additional functionality is added. MajorVersions are usually major version updates.
But keep in mind that not every software development firm follows this generalization. Most would be happy to tell you what they mean because they want to make sure you have the right versions.
It is safe to assume that the larger the number, the more current the application is.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
Done all the usual stuff like clear cache files etc and IE7 works ok, can't understand why. Even tried uninstalling new version to re install old version but still installs new version again.
Any suggestions greatfully received!
Help wanted with new version of firefox 2.0.0.13?
Perhaps your Firefox is attempting to use a proxy in 2.0.0.13
If there even is a 2.0.0.13
I'm using Firefox 3 beta 4.
It working beautifully. Here's a link if you can't figure your problem out. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all...
Reply:I had the same problem when i first installed fire fox.
It was caused by my Norton Firewall.
Even the messages you get were the same.To fix it i turned on firewall learning and reinstalled fire fox,Which i great
Reply:firefox 2.0.0.13 works fine I'm using it now, but what you will find is it may be blocked by your firewall you may have to go in the the firewall settings and tell it to let firefox through.
what's happening is your firewall will see it as a new program trying to access the net and it may have blocked it silently

I have a 2000 mazda 626 lx, 2.0 4cyl, automatic trans. Car now idles very roughly and dies at stop lights.?
I have been told to replace everything from the mass air flow sensor to the throttle body, and or the idle air control-(iac valve). Friends with the same kind of car have said the iac is the problem and i just need to clean it. If this is the case, can anyone reccomend a method of doing this, or what may need to be replaced? Any suggestions or web links would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It could be Idle air control but still all you said is speculation. Your check engine light will be illuminated if any of the engine control is not operating properly. This is the primary purpose of OBD systems; to prevent replacing that which does not warrant replacment. If it is lit which it should likely be, get a scanner or have the codes read to locate the fault.

Is there any way to make 2.0 MGB .GIF files smaller and more optimized?
for web use.
Is there any way to make 2.0 MGB .GIF files smaller and more optimized?
I'm assuming any GIF that big is an animation, in which case you need to use the same palette for all frames. This is an option in GIF Construction Set Professional and most other GIF animation builders. If you've already done that, you'll have to consider reducing the number of colors, the number of frames, or the size of the image.
Reply:Changing the format will make the file size smaller, to change the size of the picture you can crop it.
Reply:There are many things you can do to optimize the GIF file but mostly you will need some kind of image or icon editor app like Axialis Icon Workshop,Microangelo,..etc..To optimized the gif file you can try to reduce the file size ( smaller height%26amp;width), reduce the color pallette from 256 to 8 or something like that or reduce the animation frames. If you don't need the gif file convert to png or jpg.

Help! I upgraded to Norton 360 version 2.0 for XP yesterday and?
now my computer is making grunting noises? What could it be? And everytime I try to open up the task bar, it says "initializing configuration wizard," then "configuring auto live update," then "configuring antivirus" and finally, "configuring Norton community confidential watch." I'm not able to see the 4 task bar in my previous version (PC Security, Backup and Restore, PC Tune up, Fraud Monitoring). Does anyone know what's wrong?
Web browsing is fine but not being able to get into the task bar and the grunting noises is worrying me!

I've just bought mp3HQ 2.0 to transfer record and cassettes straight to mp3 via line in.?
software is installed correctly. External Cassette deck is connected to line in and audio is heard through speakers. Also sound card line in is enabled for recording/ instructions from disc/manual and web says that it is possible on one of its features. The only reason I bought the software. However I can not work out how to do it? Tried every 'click' but to no avail, Please does anyone anyone know the proper way to do it as want to add my mini discs and cassettes?
I've just bought mp3HQ 2.0 to transfer record and cassettes straight to mp3 via line in.?
I would not have bought a programme for this. This is my standard reply to anyone wanting to do this. If there is a headphone socket on your cassette player then it's easy. You will need a cable with a stereo jack plug (3.5mm) at each end. You will also need a recording programme, I use audiograbber which is a free download. Then plug the cable into the headphone socket on the tape, and the line in socket behind your computer. Start Audograbber and under file select line in sampling. Start off with the tape volume fairly low and adjust till the recording levels are OK just to test. Then simply record to your computer. If you wish to convert to MP3 you will need an encoder, the instructions for downloading this are in Audiograbber. Hope this helps
Reply:Well, I wouldn't have paid for some software. the easiest way to get music to MP3 is just download it as an MP3 in the first place. Linewire is good software to use for this, and it's free.

Is a core 2 duo 2.0 Ghz really necessary compared to a 1.6 Ghz for a laptop?
See I want to get a laptop that'll last 3-5 years and I don't know how important the processor speed is and the price difference is about 100 bucks.
I don't do too heavy intensive gaming, but I am getting a 8600GT graphics card....I am doing this so the laptop will last a few years for gaming.
And I will also be doing a lot of music stuff, web surfing, video, etc.
See I just want it to last a while and I know RAM has more of an effect on speed but I can always uprgade that. I'm not sure about the hard drives influence on speed but I think I can upgrade that too in the future. So what do you think? thanks.
Cheers.
Is a core 2 duo 2.0 Ghz really necessary compared to a 1.6 Ghz for a laptop?
I'd definitely go for the extra 400 mhz. Especially if you want it to last a few years. Applications and games are getting increasly more memory-intensive and require a better system.
Reply:if you want to do any gaming yes, and I would go for the core2 duo just because it will operate many more things down the road.
Reply:I would go with the core 2 duo 2GH. It runs faster than a 1.6GH. Minimum of 1 G memory, 2 G is better ofcourse. If you store a lot than bigger harddrive would help (120-160G)
Reply:Your computer is only as fast as the slowest part in it. So i would go for the 2.0Ghz, really get a 2.2 if you can, i was going to get that since 2.0 is now kind of becoming the lowest you can buy.
Reply:That graphics card is pretty powerful, so you'll want a powerful processor to go with it. 1.6GHz is kind of slow for a processor now, so in 5 years, it'll be way out of date. Since you don't do that much intensive gaming, I'd get a Nvidia 7 series video card (To save some money)and the core 2 duo 2 GHz processor.
The 7 series graphics cards are pretty good and would probably suit your gaming needs.
Right now, I'm using a 6 series that I'm happy with

Dynamic WebParts in asp.net 2.0?
hi,
can any one help in giving me a totally dynamic idear of how to make web parts[ starting from Webpartmanage, WebpartZone, webParts and all other items in it.]
Thanks
take care
Dynamic WebParts in asp.net 2.0?
1) The WebPartManager control is an ASP.NET server control that completely manages the state of the zones and the content placed in the zones on a per-user basis. This control, which has no visual aspect, can add and delete items contained within each zone of the page.
2) After you place the WebPartManager control on the page, the next step is to create zones from which you can utilize the Portal Framework. Web zones define specific rows or columns as individual content areas managed by the WebPartManager.
3) Other related stuff:
In order to include items within the templated WebPartZone control, you must include a %26lt;ZoneTemplate%26gt;
element.
Working with the WebPartManager class either directly or through the use of the WebPartManager server control, you can have the mode of the page changed. Changing the mode of the page being viewed allows the user to add, move, or change the pages they are working with.
I suggest you read:

Why did yahoo! remove Chat 2.0 from the website and now you can only use it with Messenger?
It was a lot easier to access it through the web page, messenger is a pain in the ***, and the list is harder to see. Bastards.

I am so confused with Plesk 8.2.0 can someone help me?
Basically I designed a home page (web page)in Adobe Photoshop CS2, opened it in Adobe ImageReady and started slicing. I've saved it as a "web optimized" file which I guess is a .gif. I want to upload it to see my progress.. Well... I was given access to my friend's server to (which he uses Plesk) and there are so many files that I'm thoroughly confused. I've read that I'm supposed to put my stuff in httpsdoc but... please help.. :(

What is the new VMware 2.0 and what all is it capable of doing?
I need the best article I can find to submit for an assignment. I know basically what VMware is and what it does, but the new version coming out is web based. Need feedback.
What is the new VMware 2.0 and what all is it capable of doing?
Hi - Vmware 2.0 lets you install and run operating systems as separate computers on your single computer. You install VMWare (runs on WinXP, Vista, 2003, 2008, or Linux), then setup a virtual computer (choose what OS, how much ram, how many CPU's (only 1 or 2 with the free version), how much hard drive space, setup networking, and then put in a new OS's CD or DVD, and install it. It then boots and runs from within VMWare.
With V2.0 you access it by going to a local web address/port on your PC using IE or Firefox. I use it at work quite a bit. I have it running on a 64-bit RedHat Linux box, then installed a 32-bin Linux login server, and a 32-Bit Windows 2003 server with Terminal Services. The "host" linux box is very secure, and does not allow anyone except root to login, and then only from one of our admin workstations. The "guest" login server is not very secure, and allows all users to login to check email, SFTP or FTP files in or out of their home directories, etc. The Win2003 server allows up to 100 users to use Remote Desktop to get a remote Windows login to check email, run specialized software, etc. Vmware let's me purchase one machine, and turn it into three - the host machine also runs our Samba, Authentication, Web, and email servers too.
I have VMWare installed on my desktop PC running XP 32 bit too, where I use it for testing stuff. I currently have a Windows Server 2008 64-bit install on this machine. I can switch back and forth between my WinXP and Win2008 server on the fly, and test to see how different software works with 2008, and also how 2008 works as a domain controller for XP and Vista clients. Microsoft gave me a 9 month free trial of 2008, and since it's running on my XP box, I didn't need to purchase any hardware to give it a try.
VMWare has some non-free versions that let you allocate multiple cpu's to guest OS's, and setup redundant clusters of hosts - cool stuff, but out of my price range. The free one does everything I need it to do.
If you have a modern CPU/motherboard, it will run the guest OS almost as fast as if it were the only thing installed on the computer - both Intel and AMD have virtualization enabled CPU's - the linux box at work is an 8-core Xeon with 16Gig of ram. My office PC is an Athlon64 X2-6400+ with 4 Gig ram. The area where a lot of computers will be lacking is with Ram - the host and guest need to share this, so you need enough to keep both happy. Hope this is what you were looking for
Oh yeah - I have a faculty member that runs it on his WinXP desktop machine with Windows98 installed as the guest OS so that he can run his ancient video games. For Win98 I chose NAT networking, so the guest OS is safe even if it's Win98.

Is verizon Vcast or mobileweb 2.0 just a watered down browser or can I go to any website using it?
I am thinking of getting an LG Voyager, but I am worried about the internet on it. I know the phone has a full web browser on it, but does verizon support this? Att's iphone has a full featured web browser, but it is way too slow for me.
Is verizon Vcast or mobileweb 2.0 just a watered down browser or can I go to any website using it?
The Voyager has a full web browser. Verizon's clamshell phones like the Razr do not- they have watered down internet. If you want good browsing on Verizon, checkout the 8830. That's what I use with Opera Mobile. It's a great browser, but you have to download it. It's free though. AT%26amp;T's network is really slow, that's why I have Verizon.

I'm trying to make a web based mp3 player that will match my website, but the programming only handles MIDI and WAV . Is there an upgrade for playing mp3s, or do i just need new language? If I need new language, what do I change?

Ubuntu Linux & Firefox 2.0.0.1?
OK, I am in Answers and I see a narrow screen. Answers has about an inch+ of unused space on each side. Other web-sites fill the screen. Can we change the view?
Also has anyone used "Wine" or "CodeWeavers" to run Windows Programs, what you think of them?
Ubuntu Linux %26amp; Firefox 2.0.0.1?
No this is the way yahoo answers is set up.
I used to use code weavers to run some windows programs, but eventually I found that I was just using the Linux equivalents of windows programs.
Wine will run a lot of windows programs. Ask this question at:

Firefox 2.0 never finishes the extraction. It gets to 95% then disappears from the screen. Any ideas?
I've tried installing from the web and from a CD. It does the same thing from both sources. I wonder if a spyware may be causing the problem.
Firefox 2.0 never finishes the extraction. It gets to 95% then disappears from the screen. Any ideas?
Are you reinstalling it after deleting or overwriting a previous version of Firefox? Please uninstall the previous version, go to the Programs folder and manually remove the Firefox / Mozilla folder and use a registry cleaner to remove all residue.
Reboot your computer. After that try to install Firefox 2.
Good luck!

HTTPModule : ASP.NET 2.0?
Suppose I have site xyz.com. Site has a page called show_user.aspx where I need to access the Session variables.
But this show_user.aspx page will not be called directly Instead , when user type xyz.com/somnath …it will interpret “somnath” as a user name and internally call page show_user.aspx?user=somnath.
I have created a HTTP module URLCheckingModule for URL checking.
This is settings in my web.config file

HTTPModule : ASP.NET 2.0?
Hey
I am same person, who has asked this question.
I able to resolve the issue.
1. I have added the HTTP module in BeginRequest
that is
app.BeginRequest += new EventHandler(this.OnPreRequest);
2. instead of Server.trasfer I have used ...
context.RewritePath("...
This help me. Session is working properly.
Reply:In order for your module to work, make sure IIS is configured to pass all requests (not just .aspx requests) to the .NET framework.
To access Session from an HTTPModule, you must add the IReadOnlySessionState or the IRequiresSessionState (readonly is better for performance if you don't need to write to the session).

Psp 2.0 to 1.5 downgrade help?( for homebrew purposes)?
I am technologically challenged and I have little knowlege of computers. I want to downgrade my psp, but I don't completely understand the tutorials I have found on the web. I can do simple things like download music and what not, but I turn into a retard when I read the how-to's for downgrading. If anyone could give me a link, or web-site that is really easy to understand.(screenshots are a preference). thanx
Psp 2.0 to 1.5 downgrade help?( for homebrew purposes)?
First of all, there is direct downgrade from 2.0 to 1.50. You do not need to do any upgrade nor need to use any GTA to downgrade your PSP.
That's said, let me point out that downgrading is very risky especially for people who are technologically challenged. If you make any mistake, your PSP will not be usable again (they call it bricked). If I were you, I will not do the downgrade myself.
Maybe you can ask someone who can do that for you, or you can buy a PSP that are downgraded in Ebay. If you plan to by a PSP already hacked, may I suggest you should get one with custom firmware 3.03 OE-c or 3.10 OE-a. Custom firmware can run homebrews and new games without doing lot of extra set up (1.50 does).
Reply:why would you want to downgrade it thats bad
Reply:Downgrading is risky especially if you don't know what your doing. read more about it here http://qj.net/ its the best. You'll have to upgrade to 2.8 or 3.03 and have an unpatched version of GTA:Liberty City.
Also try http://afterdawn.com there great too.

it is a new way in offering services in the web.
see a lot of web 2.0 applications to see the differences.

Reply:The term was introduced by Tim O'Reilly, when describing the set of new services and technologies that have appeared on the web recently (see link below).
I.e., Flickr, Frappr, Google, Firefox, Wikipedia, AJAX and XML are considered Web 2.0 - Internet Explorer, Yahoo! and Microsoft are considered somewhat "old fashioned", and thus not Web 2.0. Although, with Yahoo!'s recent revamp of their services, they are probably trying to upgrade themselves.
What Web 2.0 services seem to have in common, is that they are user-centric - they rely on users themselves to build the service (most notably Wikipedia). Frappr would also be a good example of this, as it combines Google Maps and Flickr to a new service.
Some also believe the entire Web 2.0 is nothing but hype - see http://flocksucks.wordpress.com/ for an example. "The Register" recently published a sarcastic list of what people think Web 2.0 really is: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/11/11/...
There's even a website that lets you vote over other websites - are they Web 2.0 or not? http://web2ornot.com/

Please no ranting about Web 2.0 being a fad and all that. If the version number bothers you, let's just consider the question is the same as: in 2016, how will Internet fundamentally differ from what it is today?

Reply:It will be more stable and fast. Everything is becoming progressivelt more stable because we are able to control the systems better. The only issue is at the same time hackers will also be better. ~__~; They make things really difficult. The only way to truly prevent a hacker from not getting in is to not have the internet. Since the internet is just getting better and better.. No one wants to do that. So the will attempt to make the internet more secure. It will last, for some time. In 10 years the internet will be the exact same mess, but faster.

I wud like to build Web2.0 know-how. Cud someone recommend books/URL on LAMP, Symphony, Interface Design etc?
I have just finished B-School and am starting-up a tech venture in the Web 2.0 space. We have written our business plan and secured some funding. We are now heading into the implementation phase. I would like to avoid making common mistakes and would love any feedback/tips you have for a first time Entrepreneurs. More specifically, I would like to get to grips with technologies such as LAMP, Symphony, Interface Design etc that I am beginning to deal with. Could you recommend me to the popular sources online (URLs) or offline (Books) where I can build the knowledge base relatively quickly?
Really appreciate your help and look forward to being an active member here.
Best Wishes,

When Venture Capitalists invest in your web2.0 site how do you make money or get it in your pocket to cash in.
How do venture capitalist give you money out of the Web 2.0 website you create after it is completed. Do you really get rich when VCs invest in your website or do you make a small amount.
When Venture Capitalists invest in your web2.0 site how do you make money or get it in your pocket to cash in.
I'm no expert, but it seems to work like this.
Step 1. Create a start up with VC funding.
Step 2. ???
Step 3. Profit
As of now, the only Step 2 is getting bought by Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, etc. Ads will never make you rich, especially when bandwidth eats up so much cost.
If you can find another Step 2, I'm sure sites like FaceBook, Digg, etc. would love to hear it.
Reply:When people invest in your company they're not giving you money, they are buying part of the company you own, and that money belongs to the company, that's the money you use to spend on whatever your company needs, things like advertisement and whatnot, but also your and your other employees' paychecques. that's how you get some of the money. but you can't over do it and give yourself a too huge chunk or you'll piss them off. the real money you are planning to make is the same money they plan to make, the worth of your shares. they bought theirs, yours were free so you'll end up making more. they are hoping that the shares will be worth more than what they payed, until you go public they aren't wort h anything technically but really they are worth as much people are willing to pay and your investors payed a certain price for them.
no you don't get rich when they invest in your website, your company gets money, you get rich when the shares you own get worth alot, or from your share of the profits that get produced.
I think that ads can get you rich google such companies that can buy you out only got their money from ads to begin with, now they are big enough to spread out into other areas though and other sources of revenue. i've never payed google a cent and nobody bought google.
basically you want to get as many hits as you can the hits will indirectly be your profit, even if you get bought out, that will only happen when you've gotten enough hits.
Reply:You will only get investments when your site has proved it is capable of earning millions.

How many nba teams have come back from an 0-2 deficit in a best-of-seven playoff series?
I was wondering about this since last night on TNT they said that 191/204 teams have won a 7 game series when up 2-0, around 94%. I want to know the 13 teams that have come back, but I'm having trouble finding this anywhere on the web. Any help would be appreciated.
I have 4 teams so far:
'07 Cavaliers (ECF vs. Detroit)
'07 Jazz (WC 1st vs. Houston)
'06 Heat (NBA Finals vs. Dallas)
'04 Lakers (WC SF vs. San Antonio)
How many nba teams have come back from an 0-2 deficit in a best-of-seven playoff series?
1. 1969 Boston Celtics - came back to defeat Lakers in 7 games in NBA finals; Bill Russell's last yer
2. 1977 Portland Trailblazers - won 4 straight versus Sixers in 77 Finals after dropping first 2 in Philly (I'm old enough to have memories of that)
3. Houston : 1994 West semifinals versus Phoenix, they actually lost first 2 games at home, but rallied to win in 7)
4. Houston : 1995 West semifinals versus Phoenix (again!) and this time, Houston was actually trailing 3-1 and won 7th game on the ROAD at Phoenix
(Houston won the title both years)
5. 1993 Chicago Bulls (East Finals) - beat Knicks 4 straight after losing 1st two in Madison Square Garden, 2nd game featured Stark's great dunk in last minute
6. Dallas (1st round versus Rockets, 2004 or 2005): Dallas lost first 2 games at home but T-Mac and Yao Ming choked.
Plus your 4 teams.
The '04 Lakers left San Antonio 0-2 down then won 4 straight to beat the spurs 4-2.

I have to check but I think Lakers were trailing 2-0 in 1970 West Semis to Hawks (then in West) as well and rallied from 2-0 and 3-1 deficit.
Reply:Phoenix is going to be another statistic.
They have the wrong coach leading them if they want to take back this series.
Athletically, Phoenix is superior to San Antonio. But where the Spurs are killing them is coaching and experience.
I have 4 teams so far:
'07 Cavaliers (ECF vs. Detroit)
'07 Jazz (WC 1st vs. Houston)
'06 Heat (NBA Finals vs. Dallas)
'04 Lakers (WC SF vs. San Antonio)

What's JavaScript&JScript? How about Web BrowsersCompability?
is JavaScript made by Netscape ? JScript made by Microsoft ?
some are mixed by those J/Javascript, some assumpt they are the same thing, does Microsoft destroy the compability of the original JavaScript made by Netscape ? is this still an issue in 2007 ? how about the J/Javascript in relation to Web 2.0 / AJAX? is Microsoft's JScript more popular than Netscape's Javascript, due to IE's more popularity? some website use the term "best viewed in IE 5/6" it's kind of dilemma, because IE is not safe/vulnerable, headacheeeeeeeeee heheheh
What's JavaScript%26amp;JScript? How about Web BrowsersCompability?
Whoa, whoa. One thing at a time. Okay, for all practical reasons, you should not code in anything but javascript. Everything that Microsoft uses (JScript, VBScript (not counting ASP), etc.) is ActiveX and is INSECURE by microsoft's own admission. They are also limited to Internet Explorer and won't work with other browsers.
Javascript is not a microsoft product, does not rely on IE, and completely compatible. It is one of the cornerstones of AJAX (AJAX stands for asynchronous javascript and xml).
As for "best viewed with IE", if it can't be viewed in firefox, chances are there's no need to view it. The only thing that firefox doesn't support that IE does is activeX, and if Microsoft admits its insecure, I don't want to be near it.
Good luck!
Reply:JScript is Microsoft's implementation of ECMAScript. JScript runs under Internet Explorer.
Javascript is a common computer programming language developed by ECMA for use in web applications primarily on the client.
Microsoft has implemented Netscape's original JavaScript specification to create a scripting language called JScript, which is the default scripting language interpreted in Internet Explorer. Like Netscape's JavaScript implementation, JScript supports the full specification of ECMAScript.
What is different is the Document Object Model (DOM) bound with JScript. While all browsers have their own implementation of DOM Level 0 (vendor-specific), Internet Explorer implemented only some of the W3C recommended DOM Levels (1, 2 and 3).

Is the use of frames in HTML considered obsolete for today's web design?
As the web moves to Web 2.0,
is the use of frames inappropriate for modern web design?
Is the use of frames in HTML considered obsolete for today's web design?
This is a very interesting question, I would say yes, it is. I think that the frames are a little bit annoying, now days you can use layers to make your life a lot easier. If you browse popular sites (like yahoo, google, apple, etc) you'll see that they don't have frames. Old browsers don't support frames (but I'm talking about browsers in Windows 3.1 or the first IE). You are to build your site depending on your final viewers. Think of a creative way to do it. I would recomend to use Front Page if you're using windows or iWeb if you're using Mac.
Reply:Not always, but sometimes, look at http://www.Ramppage.co.nr
you wouldn't know that it uses frames now would you? however sometimes it makes a website look ridiculous.
Reply:Yes. Use DIVs instead.
Reply:Yep. Frames have always been inappropriate:
Reply:I think it depends on who you ask. Some people seem to be a big fan of frames, while others hate them with every fiber of their being. Personally, I don't care much for traditional frames, but I do use inline frames quite frequently.
Reply:No, frames are still used but are not recognized by some browsers. IE still, to my knowledge, uses frames. Though I haven't tried it in over 2 years.

How can I make a web-based drag and drop database?
I'd like to make a web 2.0-type database type service using ajax.
It's going to be a social networking visualization application that will be used to store information about contacts I've made. For example, each person I know would have their own little box and I would link them together if they knew each other.
For example:
Frank %26lt;---%26gt; Lauren
|
|
Me %26lt;-----%26gt; Melissa %26lt;-----%26gt; billy
This would mean that I know Billy through Melissa and that I know Frank who knows Lauren.
Basically, it would be an easy way to view your network and add things about them that would appear in their boxes such as their contact info, hobbies, etc.
Anybody have some ideas to get started? Thanks!
How can I make a web-based drag and drop database?
I would start with the Db design. You are going to need a junction table to resolve the many to many relationships you are going to have.
So if your user table has fields like
UserId
Name
etc..
Then your second table will need sometihng like
FriendID
UserID1
UserID2
Then you will be able to resolve the names of the people who know one another and draw your relationship. When you add the link, then a record will need to be inserted to keep track of it for future requests.
You are going to need a lot more than this, but this should get you a start. I would look at using something like DotNetNuke to take care of some of the plumbing of the application and then just write a module for DNN then will allow you to accomplish your logic here.

Where is the best place to hold a web site development contest?
I work with a large publisher and instead of going the traditional route of hiring a developer to build a web site we are thinking about sponsoring a contest where the winning site design would be paid $$. Any ideas of where to launch this contest? BTW -the site would have to have Web 2.0 tools, CMS, and be open sourced.
Where is the best place to hold a web site development contest?
Nice level of maturity in the last answer... thank goodness people are willing to be sarcastic it is so encouraging. I guess that is why you are on this service, since there is an apparent lack of anything else for you to do...
That said, I think this is an innovative thought, most companies get bogged down by assuming their own expertise. In this case you are willing to take a chance that others might know or being willing to contribute more.
I would suggest Druple as a starting point, it is a good open source tool and has an active community.
Reply:Wow you sound _really_ professional... most companies go for the boring old "interview" technique but your company holds a competition... do you hold a raffle to see who gets a payrise? How about a lottery to decide who is going to get promoted? Heck, why not just put all the names of the applicants into a hat... your employees must just love your modus operandi...

How much does mobile web cost per month on a Verizon Wireless cell phone?
Also, which websites can you visit using mobile web 2.0? Is it just certain websites (like The Weather Channel, CNN, ect) or can you visit other websites that you can visit from your desktop using regular internet?
Thanks!
How much does mobile web cost per month on a Verizon Wireless cell phone?
There are 2 types of mobile web that you can add through Verizon.
*The $5 package gives you full internet access- you can go to any website you want. With this package minutes come off of your plan. So for every minute you are on the web, a minute comes off of your plan. If you are accessing the web during your night and weekend times, it will be free.
*There is a $15 package called the V-Pack, it gives you internet access and a few other options in the Get It Now menus, but with this package no minutes come off of your plan when accessing the internet.
Reply:Its an additional 5$ every month. Just call verizon and they will connect it for you over the phone :)

What's your favorite web browser and why?
I like Firefox because of its speed and ease of use, and also because of all its wonderful add-ons. The only thing that bothers me about it is that it still doesn't have the feature of smooth text. That's where Safari comes in with its top-notch interface and page rendering, but it doesn't support a lot of the Web 2.0 features and most toolbars aren't compatible with it. I guess if I was to choose one of the two, it would probably be Firefox.
What's your favorite web browser and why?
Yeah, Safari is good, Opera is Ok, IE is also good but Firefox is excellent. 1. It is cross-platform; 2. Its stability is unmatched especially the new version 2.0.0.4; 3. Firefox uses SSL/TLS to protect communications with web servers using strong cryptography when using the ever reliable HTTPS protocol; 4. Though interms of market share IE supersedes it and thats due to Microsoft shipping of Windows with IE else than that Firefox is cool below is their current market share standing: -
Internet Explorer - 78.7%
Firefox - 14.5%
Safari - 4.8%
Opera - 0.8%
Netscape - 0.7%
Opera Mini - 0.2%
Mozilla - 0.2%;
5. Firefox is free and open source software; 6. Firefox still had fewer security vulnerabilities, as counted by security researchers; 7. One of the most popular features of Firefox is its support for add-ons. These include Themes for the browser, but also extensions like Source Editor, Grease Monkey, and IE Tab which make special tasks easier, and improve your browsing experience; 8. Firefox provides an environment for web developers in which they can use built-in tools or extensions. Generally there thousands of reasons that makes FF the best browser on the internet!
Reply:Maxthon...Try it and C.
Reply:i like Opera and Flock.... Flock is not very popular.. but trust me its gr8io!! its fast and very efficient...
Reply:In my opinion:
Opera for sheer speed and out-of-the-box feature set. However, Firefox's extensions are extremely useful, and I'll switch over as soon as all of Opera's features can be emulated in Firefox.

How did pandora.com do its web background?
If you are not familiar with the much-talked about web 2.0 site Pandora, see www.pandora.com.
What interests me is their offbeat web background. How did they pull that off? Any designers want to help here?
How did pandora.com do its web background?
Actually is not that simple as a "curvy green area". Tip: If you're not a web developer you shouldn't speak.
Anyway, this background it's a mix of 3 images. All of them being positioned using CSS. Important: Basic knowment of CSS will be required.
The first image is the %26lt;body%26gt; background, wich is just the left green bar. The CSS here force it to repeat just in the "y" axis (background-repeat: repeat-y;)
http://www.pandora.com/images/background...
The second image have been put in a container (div), wich is positioned at the top of the page showing an horizontal bar. This way, the designers made a 2 background visual effect. Again, the background repeats, but this time in the "x" axis (background-repeat: repeat-x;)
http://www.pandora.com/images/background...
The last image is the weird corner. It have also been put in a container (div) aligned to the top-left. This background won't repeat (background-repeat: no-repeat;)
http://www.pandora.com/images/background...
The mix of 3 gives the impression of a simple funny background, but as you can see, is just an illusion made of 3 different elements.
Reply:Are you serious??? Its an imge of a curvy green area. It' not Offbeat.

What web development platforms should I be learning?
Well, my idea for the past couple of years was to learn a language, and get a site started. I have a really good idea that is based on ideas from sites like digg.com, and wikipedia.com (not copying at all of course, a very original idea).
I have been learning PHP and MySQL for the past year, and now in a recent Yahoo Question, I have come to find out that most big company websites do not use this language. I feel really stupid now.
I was told I should be learning ruby, perl, ruby on rails, but the most popular one is asp.net
My question (with the thought of me starting my own popular website in the near future), is which language should I persue, and if so are there any really popular programs that are almost WSYIWYG editors or something close. Btw does asp.net cost money? May sound like a dumb question but this is the first time me hearing about asp.net (not asp though).
Also, to give you some specs, I want it to be Web 2.0 (completely user driven), fresh, and looks nice, dynamic
What web development platforms should I be learning?
I don't think you should get too hung up on the specific technology right now. If you are comfortable writing php and mysql, then go for it! If you have a great idea, prototype it and deliver it as a beta. You will learn by doing. Until you know what the key constraints are in your specific problem, it is unlikely that you will pick the perfect solution. A lot of this probably depends on how your app will be used and how it will evolve which at the beginning is hard to predict. So if you feel you have the tools to deliver something useful, do it. If you picked the ideal tools for the job, then great; if not, you can take what you've learned and re-implement in Ruby on Rails :)
My only additional piece of advice would be to familiarize yourself with the lower level technologies you are using. Many of these tools nicely and usefully abstract some of these details from you, but they are really worth knowing. An added benefit is that when you understand what your tool is doing for you under the covers, you can more easily switch tools. For example, i'm always surprised how many experienced web developers have fundamental gaps in their knowledge of http, etc.
Good luck!
Reply:thanks man! good luck and send me a preview of your beta site when you get it going! :) Report It
Reply:it is not entirely true. You can develop site in PHP, it is secure and fast to handle such data. ASP.net is in vogue but expensive. PHP being open source, abundant resources are available. You dont need to waste time to learn if you have good idea. Hire any offshore web development team eg http://www.net4gains.com and start.
Reply:ASP.net does not cost money in itself, but it MUST be run on a Microsoft server with .net architecture. This generally costs a bit more to get hosted than an Apache/PHP server, but not too much.
I personally like ASP.net, but PHP is very powerful as well. I have programmed in btoh and in general you can do the same things in both (though I have found sometimes it is a bit more complicaed in PHP). PHP is open source, where ASP is proprietary.
As for WYSIWYG editors, the most popular one for PHP is generally Dreamweaver ( http://www.adobe.com/products/dreamweave... ) which costs some money, but is reasonable. And for ASP.net, Visual Studio is the program of choice - though it is quite expensive - A good alternative is Microsoft Visual Web Developer Express which is free and has a complete intellitype library, WYSIWYG capabilities and debugger:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/expres...
ASP.net also lets you program in either Visual Basic, or C#.
Both ASP.net and PHP are valuable and powerful languages, you just need to decide which one to focus on (it is smart to be at least somewhat educated in both)
Reply:Both PHP and ASP are very powerful programming languages and learning either of them is a great accomplishment.
I have been writing in ASP because i found it easier to work with, but either would get you what you want.
ASP.net wont cost money (well at least i dont think so)

Volunteers (web developer, php)?
I need to find someone who can volunteer to help me with a website redesign project. The preson needs to know PHP and mySQL. Web 2.0 knowledge a plus. It doesn't require onsite work. I am a designer and I have been helping a publishing company (NGO) to redesign their website. I don't have enough skills to manage the backend structure and to integrate it with the new design. Where can I find someone who can either do some part time volunteer work or to tutor me to get the job done?
Volunteers (web developer, php)?
mention location. or give email address in your profile. after you get a response delete your e mail address if you wish.

ASPX Frameworks 2.0 "Parser Error" WHY???
HI,i get the following error when i try to publish my aspx c# application to a webserver, when i test my application on vs 2005 or using IIS it works FINE!! but when i try to Publish a website from VS 2005 iget the following error :
Parser Error
Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific parse error details and modify your source file appropriately.
Parser Error Message: Could not load the assembly 'App_Web_8f-yqnr4'. Make sure that it is compiled before accessing the page.
Source Error:
Line 1: %26lt;%@ page language="C#" autoeventwireup="true" inherits="Index, App_Web_8f-yqnr4" debug="true" %%26gt;
Line 2:
Line 3: %26lt;!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-...
Does any one knows what can be done to fix this and or what makes this problum.
ASPX Frameworks 2.0 "Parser Error" WHY???
Your "inherits" attribute in the @Page directive is pointing to something that likely doesn't exist. If you are using a code-behind, you need to specify that in the directive. If not, just remove the inherits attribute altogether.
Reply:I provided this same answer earlier. You should have given me the points. Report It
Reply:There should be a library named App_WEB_8f-yqnr4 in your remote server.
If there isn't, get rid of the reference in your inherits attribute of the @page directive, or put the Apps_Web_8f-yqnr4 library in your remote server.
Reply:It's self-explanatory. This is basic .Net development fundamentals. You should probably take some tutorials online or get a book to learn .Net. You're obviously copying code (since you don't understand the inherits attribute), so you might want to simply ask the person you got it from.
Reply:Good question-- I do not know the answer.
Did you try using a different compiler?

About starting to Web Technologies?
I want to learn about scripts, web page programming (not design). There are many things that I hear nowadays: web 2.0, web 3.0, xml, html, .NET, Ajax... Where should I start from?
About starting to Web Technologies?
You should definitely start with html, and eventually work your way up to xhtml. Then, I would look at CSS and/or JavaScript, followed by eventually a server side language like PHP, ASP, etc.
If you didnt understand much of that, then I would head right now to http://w3schools.com/ which has probably the best references/tutorials on the web.
Oh, and as a side note, AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript and XML) is basically what you get when you use Javascript on a web page to get information from the server without refreshing the refreshing the page.
Reply:For learning web tech..you must start with HTML(Hyper Text Mark Up Language). This full of tags
eg: %26lt;HTML%26gt;
%26lt;Head%26gt;
%26lt;Title%26gt;...%26lt;/title%26gt;
%26lt;/head%26gt;
%26lt;body%26gt;
...
..
%26lt;/body%26gt;
%26lt;/html%26gt;
And also you must have knowledge in VB,c++,java..

just visit www.gromohosting.com
and let me know how can this possible, why webhosting become so cheap ? is it bcoz web 2.0
revolution soething then why some hosting company selling web space at so high cost ?
Why web hosting become so cheap in India ?
labour and other costs are so cheap in India this is the reason companys are moving over there.
Reply:Gromohosting is a theif. About 15 days a month, their website and the websites hosted with them will not load. They are totally waste. They have displayed that they response to your queries within 15 minutes. Its totally wrong. They will never reply. Better they can do a cobbler's job. Report It
Reply:i think it is............
Reply:well have you tried opening a website based in India that has flash? They are generally VERY VERY slow.
Better going for something reliable in the UK if thats where you are - for the follwing reasons;
customer support can understand you and respond to you correctly in your own language
uptime will most likely be significantly better - i have deal with many foreign websites and they are not as reliable
plus the will most likely have a smaller turn around of staff, so you get better more personal service
I recommend www.sdhnternet.co.uk (and no Im not affiliated - just a very happy customer)
You will love the cost - because it is CHEAP!
£1.99 a month!
Thats all!
For this you get:
200mb Storage Space
500mb Bandwidth
10 Pop3 Emails, 10 Auto responders
Front Page Extensions:
CGI ,PHP,ASP ,SSI
Unix Platform,Custom Error Docs ,Online Control Panel ,99% Uptime, 24/7 Support
And this is their basic option!
They are an absolute God send, I knew very little about building websites or php when I first started, but they have helped me every step of the way! And the 24/7 support is really 24/7 - I can get hold of them when I need to all hours of the day or night.
Its certainly worth a look, I've tried many others and their service just hasnt been as up to scratch as here. In fact I've moved all my websites over and got a great bundle deal too. So if you have many sites, they might just give you a really good price to host them all.
Cheap, reliable, helpful, polite and cheap - what more can you ask for?
Good luck in your search,
Kelly.
